Ameritech Faculty Development Technology Project 98

Four workshops are planned for MCF Colleges as part of Ameritech’s Faculty Development Technology Project in 1998.  Descriptions of each of the workshops can be obtained from David Heise in ITS (x6124).  They are also available on the web at http://charis.mcs.alma.edu/~mcs/mcf/

Workshop #1 Unleashing the Power of Learning and Teaching with Technology

Audience:  This workshop is intended for experienced instructors who have had some experience with computers and learning or have a strong working knowledge of some areas such as courseware, email, newsgroups, chat-rooms, conferencing, World Wide Web, or Microsoft PowerPoint.

Workshop #2 Using the World Wide Web to Deliver Course Content

Dates:

June 22-23

July 8-9

August 3-4

Audience:  This workshop will be geared towards faculty who know how to access and use the World Wide Web and now wish to learn how to develop WWW materials for use in their teaching.

Workshop #3 Support Staff Issues and Organization

Dates:

June 1-2

Places:

HillsdaleCollege
Hillsdale

Audience:  A mix of technicians (PC, network, backoffice, etc.), trainers and managers from each school should be represented.

Workshop #4 Teaching With Technology (Tech 101)

Date:

July 27-29

Place:

CalvinCollege
Grand Rapids

Audience:  This conference will be geared toward faculty who are relative novices (they use their computers for word processing but little else) in the use of information technology in their teaching but wish to gain greater understanding of how the use of new technologies can enhance teaching, learning, and research.
